Career Opportunities

We are currently looking to recruit:

Mechanical Technician(s)

The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for the mechanical assembly aspects of projects and directly assisting in the build of complex precision mechanisms often for use within an Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) environment as part of a team.

Applicants should have served a recognised apprenticeship and hold an HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.

The candidate(s) will be expected to assemble fine mechanical instruments for use in a vacuum environment. This will be as part of a team led by a project scientist. UHV training will be available.

There will be elements of UK and international travel associated with this position.

This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic Mechanical Technician(s) to join a high technology company with an established international reputation in this field.

Salary upon application dependent on experience.

Project Scientist / Engineer

The position will typically involve the design of precision optical mechanisms for use within an Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) environment. Candidates should hold an MSc or PhD, preferably with a background in experimental physics or closely related physical science and have experience of 2D & 3D design from a conceptual design phase.

The successful candidate will take a project from enquiry through to final design, manufacture and commissioning involving factory acceptance testing using a wide range of metrology instruments. Typical projects will involve complex opto-mechanical precision mechanisms subjected to high heat loads in a UHV environment.

The international nature of the market means the individual would be required to work overseas for short periods.

Experience of modern particle accelerator technologies would be welcome but is not a pre-requisite. IDT use SolidWorks as our principle design tool and formal training in this package will be given to the successful candidate.

This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic scientist to join a high technology company with an established international reputation in this field.

Salary upon application dependent on experience.
