A water-cooled fixed mask can be incorporated into a windowless interface to the
front end for undulator beamlines, with differential pumpng across the mask via a
pair of ion pumps. This is a proven solution by IDT, installed on the XFM beamline
at the Australian Synchrotron and on HPCAT & GSECARS at the Advanced Photon Source.
