Power Management Apertures

Below: Beam defining pinhole aperture installed on GSECARS at the Advanced Photon Source. The aperture features a long tapered water-cooled glidcop section to absorb >2kW power from the white beam, with an exit aperture size of 1.1mm × 0.7mm to allow only the central 100W of the undulator cone to pass downstream.

Above: Fixed mask installed on Imaging and Medical Beamline at the Australian Synchrotron. Mask features a glidcop body explosion bonded to stainless steel flanges and limits beam fan from wiggler to 5mrad, absorbing >8kW power.
