Very High Heat Load Slits & Filters
Very High Heat Load Slits & Filters
installed on the Imaging and Medical Beamline at the Australian Synchrotron
Designed for superconducting multipole wiggler (with white beam power densities >120 W/mm
2
).
Horizontal slits capable of absorbing >10kW per blade, vertical slits >7kW per blade.
Explosion bonded OFHC-
Glidcop design for superior strength & thermal performance.
Vertical slits use one motor to set the slit gap and a second is used to scan the beam.
Horizontal slit blades are driven independently on separate motors.
Precision actuator resolution can be controlled to 0.1µm with 5µm repeatability when operated in open loop, sub-
micron when fitted with encoder.
Tungsten beam-
defining hard edge is precision lapped to protrude 0.1mm above edge of copper slit body and is thermally decoupled from slit body.
System can be baked up to 120°C.
Designed for superconducting multipole wiggler (with white beam power densities >120 W/mm

.
Graphite filters up to 500µm thick, capable of absorbing >6kW power.
3 graphite foils & bypass aperture for unfiltered beam transmission on each filter paddle.
5 filter paddles in system, giving many possible filter combinations.
